*REVIEW* This Year's Black (Killer Style #2) by Avery Flynn

Reviewer: Donna
Rating: 5 Stars

I thought this book was fantastic! I love the drama and the sexual attraction between the two main characters was explosive.

Ryder is an investigator and Devin is manager at Dylan's Department Store. Their is some embezzling going on at the department store and Ryder is brought in to partner with Devin to find out who it is and take them down. Only problem, Devin and Ryder already know one another from a one night stand. Ryder left the next morning and never returned any of Devin's call so from the start, there is a bit of tension between the two of them. Add in loads of sexual attraction and it is one explosive relationship they have.

It's so great with these two and they are great fun to read about. Ryder is so closed off and it's nice to see her open up to Devin and let someone in. Plus he is one sexy ass male, i'm sure that makes it slightly easier! The crime part of the book is really good too and i was completely hooked from the beginning. The case and the two of them is a funny combination but a really great read.

A fighter since birth, Allegra "Ryder" Falcon would rather trade in her all-black wardrobe for
head-to-toe hot pink than let anyone ever see the cracks in her tough exterior. But one night with
a stranger changes everything.

Devin Harris may have given up his MMA fighting dreams for high fashion, but that doesn't
mean he isn't always in control. So when someone embezzles millions under his watch, he isn't
going to let the private investigator working the case go it alone--even if she is the woman who
blew him away in bed and then blew him off.

Just when it seems like it couldn't get any hotter between Ryder and Devin, the case takes them
to a tropical paradise where the danger increases. From the catwalk to the pineapple fields, they
have to work together to track down the missing millions before the thief finds--and kills--
them.

*REVIEW* Asher's Mark by Amy Durham

Reviewer: Donna
Rating: 4 Stars

Asher's Mark is about a love between two people that's forgotten after on of them moves away.

Asher and Grace meet in high school. Grace is a Junior and Asher is a Senior with not long until he graduates. Asher is moving to Flagstaff to start his first year at college but he has a whole summer before he has to go and he spends it getting to know Grace. When Asher leaves for college, they are both utterly in love with one another but at that time, it just isn't supposed to be. Grace is left behind and Asher stops speaking to her and contacting her at all. Asher's brother, Adam is there for Grace when Asher isn't. He is loveable but a bit of a player but a year after Asher moved, Adam asks Grace out and they date for 10 months until Adam dies.

This brings Asher back home for Adam's funeral and to see his mum and of course, Grace. The attraction is still there between Asher and Grace but Asher can't help feeling guilty for having feelings for his brother's girlfriend. Grace is keeping secrets about her actual relationship with Adam and doesn't know to tell people the truth about her and Adam It's a very complicated mess!

Really enjoyable to read and i kind of read it a bit too quickly.Mainly because it was exciting to see where Grace and Asher's relationship was going to. It's a young love which is very up and down but their feelings are very over the top so it's a definite teenage love in this story. It was very pleasant to read and a very subtle read that was nice to read on a Sunday afternoon. I do love this author and will be happy to read more from her. Great Read!

Grace Ballard has been in love with Asher Howell for a long time. When she was sixteen, he became her hero, and she fell head over heels for the boy with a ring through his eyebrow, a big heart, and an unending sense of justice. But two years ago he left for college without a backward glance, leaving Grace to wonder if she'd imagined everything.

With no reason to wait for Asher to return, Grace moved on, and Asher's brother, Adam, stepped in to help her pick up the pieces. But Asher never left her thoughts... or her heart.

Now, two years later, tragedy brings Asher home and back into Grace's life. The boy who left her behind is now very much a man - a licensed tattoo artist, much to his parents' dismay, and still carrying a major torch for Grace. But two years apart has changed them both, and the things that happened during their separation may create a divide that can't be crossed.

Asher and his brother both left their mark on Grace's heart. Will Asher's be able to stand the test of time?

*REVIEW* The Chase, Volume 1 (The Chase 1) by Jessica Wood

Reviewer: Donna
Rating: 4 Stars

What can i say about Dean Chase? Oh My God! he is arrogant, irritating and a big player! Yes i will give him the fact he is a sexy, hot lawyer and he knows he can get any women he wants. He sleeps with women as one night stands and that's it. He doesn't want to be committed to just one and he gives his mates grief for settling down. I actually couldn't stand Dean Chase while reading this as he is just completely mean and treats women poorly. Could Blair Parker be his undoing?

She is his client and he has rules about getting involved with people he works with and he could get fired over it but there's just something about her that gets his heart pimping. She is completely different to all the other women he has been with. He can't stop thinking about her and this is a new feeling for Dean. I think it helped that Blair didn't fall for his charms and stood up to him but he is determined to make her 736th notch on his bed post.......according to him.

It was a very short book that i managed to read in a night but being a volume, you would expect that. I really liked reading it even though i couldn't stand Dean Chase for most of the book but i'm really wanting to know whether Blair is going to be the one to tame him.

735 to 1.

735 = number of notches on his belt.
1 = the notch he couldn’t get.

Who is he?

Dean Chase.

He loves the thrill. He loves the women. And above all, he loves the chase.

But the one thing he doesn’t love is being tied down by a woman. To him, once the chase is over, it’s time to pull up his boxers and move on to the next target.

That is until he meets Blair Parker.

Blair is unlike any of the women under Dean’s belt. She’s confident, mysterious, and sassy. In Dean’s world, she’s the wicked curved ball he couldn’t figure out. She’s the first woman who always seems to be out of reach no matter how hard he chases. So when it comes to Blair, Dean couldn’t move on.

Dean will need to change his ways in order to chase Blair down to make her the 736th notch on his belt. But will chasing after Blair become Dean’s undoing and end his love of the chase once and for all?

*REVIEW* Victory Run 3 (The Story Of Victory Payne #3) by Devon Hartford

Reviewer: Donna
Rating: 5 Stars

Victory Run 3 is by far my favourite book out of the series and i really do love the way the books continue on and even the chapters do that too.

Victory is a very complicated women at times and in this book, she seems to be more complicated as the story progresses. She doesn't seem to know where she wants to take her music, what she wants to do with the attraction with Kellan and i feel really sorry for her as not a lot of things go right for her at all. Sometimes i couldn't help by groan or laugh with the amount of situations that occur and she always has to find a solution if there is one. In Victory Run 3 we finally get to understand more about Victory and why she doesn't ever want to sing again. I found that to be quite an emotional part of the book and i love the deeper understanding we get about Victory. There isn't many emotional parts to this series but this one was definitely a really good one and it gave Victory as a character, more depth. There were a few funny moments in Victory Run 3 which were fantastic and the things Victory does to perform are hilarious!

A really fabulous ending to this series and definitely would love to find out more about Victory and Kellan's futures together and as musicians.

Victory Payne is the hottest lead guitar player on the night club scene of Hollywood’s infamous Sunset Strip. With nothing but her car and her guitar, she’s ready to claw her way to success. Victory never gives up.

Then she breaks rock’s cardinal rule. She falls in love with her lead singer, the gorgeous and brooding Scott Walker. That is mistake number one.

Mistake number two is a roadblock named Kellan Burns. Kellan is primed to claim the title of hottest lead guitar player in Los Angeles with his rugged good looks and his own guitar slung as low as his tight jeans. Kellan isn’t the kind of guy to let some upstart babe with a six string stand in his way.

*REVIEW* Victory Run 2 (The Story Of Victory Payne #2) by Devon Hartford

Reviewer: Donna
Rating: 4 Stars

I really loved Victory Run 2 from start to finish. I loved that it continued on from Victor Run 1 and the story is really good and full of drama. I feel so sorry for Victory because so many things go wrong for her and living out of her car after being kicked out of her band. Victory Run 1 was slow to get started but this book was pure class. Loved the whole thing from start to finish and i can not wait for Victory Run 3. I have to find out what happens next. See, i told you it's left me wanting more! Victory is an awesome character and i love how talented she is even though her life isn't going quite to plan. Kellan is a confusing guy and i'm not quite sure what is happening with him or his friendship/relationship is with Victory. It's kept me guessing for sure.

Brilliant Second book, now bring on Victory Run 3!!

*REVIEW* Victory Run 1 (The Story Of Victory Payne #1) by Devon Hartford

Reviewer: Donna
Rating: 4 Stars

I really enjoyed reading Victory Run 1. It did take a while for the story to progress but once it did, it's was fantastic!

Kellan is a really great character but what an arrogant guy he can be! Kellan and Victory's chemistry is electric from the first time they meet and the sexual tension is HOT! I really intrigued to see what happens between these two in Victory Run 2. Kellan is such a player so i can only see heartbreak for Victory. Maybe i will be wrong? I can't believe how easily her band, Skin Trade turned on her and kicked her out. Scott, the lead singer and her boyfriend seems like such a jerk, i'm hoping Victory shows them what she's got and proves to them she doesn't need them.

I never read and rock and roll story quite like this but it grabbed my interest from the beginning. Like i said before, it took a while for the story to progress and especially for Kellan and Victory to meet or maybe i was enjoying it too much i didn't want it to end! It did seem too short and i was just beginning to settle in to the story. Bring on Victory Run 2!!

*REVIEW* Business As Usual (Off The Subject #3) by Denise Grover Swank

Reviewer: Donna
Rating: 3.5 Stars

I was slighted disappointed with the last book in the Off The Subject trilogy. Business As Usual is based around Alexa, she is Reeds sister who we find out about in redesigned, book 2. She was raped by a guy who was obsessed with her and because he came from money, he got off with it. Reed and Alexa moved away and changed their last names so they could hide and put Alexa's traumatic situation behind them. In Business As Usual she meets Ben. Ben has to work three jobs to pay his way through college when his scholarship was taken away from him all because of his ex girlfriend. After dumping his ex, she said that he raped her which landed his in a cell for a week until the charges were dropped. The problem is that Ben has to live with people whispering and speculating about whether he actually did it or not. Even his family wasn't on his side so now he has to try and put it in the past and move on. Ben and Alexa meet at the bar Ben works at and sparks fly between them. They are loads of secrets on both sides when they meet and when Ben finds out that Alexa was raped, he believes that she won't want anything to so with him.

There relationship is very unusual and even their first meeting is based on a lie. I really wanted to enjoy it more but it was lacking in drama for me and i didn't feel like it had the same pull as the first two books. I still read it and found it enjoyable but it didn't give me the same feeling as the first two.

Lexi Pendergraft has given up on finding love after a disastrous encounter with her last boyfriend. Instead, she focuses on two things: One, setting up a summer program for underprivileged middle-school aged students. And the second, getting to the bottom of her brother Reed’s recent strange behavior. His secret is destroying his relationship with his fiancée Caroline, and Lexi will do anything to help him save it. Especially after he gave up his dream to give Lexi a chance at a semi-normal college experience, something her parents threatened to steal from her after her rape a year ago.

Ben Masterson is determined to make it through his final semester of his senior year at Southern University. After recently losing his full ride scholarship, he’s suffering from sleep deprivation while trying to keep up with his mechanical engineering courses and working three part time jobs. He thinks he’s lucked out getting a job in the university math lab. The only problem is his boss—Reed Pendergraft.

As part of a role in a community theater play, Lexi wears a black wig and feels a confidence she hasn’t experienced in over a year. When she wears it to a bar close to the theater, she doesn’t think Ben, a bartender there, recognizes her. While Ben’s intrigued about what she’s up to, he’s smart enough to stay far away from his overprotective boss’s sister Until fate forces him to help her, but why won’t she tell him her real identity?

*REVIEW* Redesigned (Off The Subject #2) by Denise Grover Swank

Reviewer: Donna
Rating: 4 Stars

I'm really enjoying the Off The Subject series and the story lines are really good and very enjoyable.

This centres on Caroline and Reed. Caroline is friends with Scarlett, from book 1. She's a fashion design student at Southern University and her background was a very poor when she lived with her parents but she decided she could make something of herself. She has this thought process that she believes she has to have a high society husband who can provide for her and the family she wants to eventually have. She never thought she would have a strong attraction to a maths nerd like Reed. Reed asks her out at a party but she turns him down because he's not from a rich society and she even tells him that!!

They seem to have a love, hate relationship and at time i never believed they were going to be together. This book is packed full of drama from the start and there are alot of secrets revealed throughout the book that's kept me gripped. Characters were both fantastic even though Caroline seemed so stuck up at times and i just wanted to strangle her for some of things she said to Reed. Great read and looking forward to reading Business As Usual book 3 which centres on Reed's sister, Lexi.

While fashion design major Caroline Hunter may have been born economically unlucky, in college, she’s been lucky in love. Until her senior year at Southern University. She’s gone from a serious long term boyfriend to a string of crappy dates.

Then she meets mathematics grad student Reed Pendergraft.

Reed is everything she’s not looking for. Serious. Headed for a low paying university job. Boring. Caroline spent the first eighteen years of her life wondering where her next meal was coming from. She sure wasn’t getting trapped in that life again with a man living on a professor’s salary.

An encounter with Reed in a club proves she might have pegged him wrong. He brings out a lusty side she never knew she had. But just when she’s about to give in to her hormones, Reed makes a fool out of her.

When she shows up for the first committee meeting for Southern University’s Fall fashion show, a fundraiser for underprivileged kids, Caroline’s horrified to discover the insufferable Reed is the committee chairman. While she refuses to tolerate his totalitarian rule of the committee, she’s not sure she’ll survive the month with her heart—and her pride—intact. Just when she thinks she has everything figured out, she finds that her entire life has been redesigned, thanks to Reed Pendergraft.
