Reading Lies and Truth was at times, quite disturbing especially the amount of things Isla goes through at the hands of her Uncle and his son. She is kept like a prisoner and her Uncle's son's plaything when he wants her.
Isla has always been accepted into the Bryant family when she was little and she always loved and felt loved. She was really close to Joshua, they were like best friends even though she was seven years younger than him. A Tragic car accident kills Isla's parents and Joshua's grandfather. Isla was in the car too but escapes and gets taken away. Years later and Isla has been kept in a basement by her Uncle and his son. She feels worthless and thinks she deserves what she gets. Joshua believes that Isla is dead but when Isla gains a bit of freedom and starts working at the Bryant family business, she finally see Joshua again. He was and still is the love of her life. He doesn't recognizes her and she has to keep it that way.
It is a very twisted story and sometimes i felt it lacked passion and emotional value to it. I enjoyed the overall story of it but i did feel it was a bit too short and not with a very good ending either. There is a second book with Joshua and Isla story continuing so i am interested to see how the story pans out.
When Isla Holmes life as a child is turned upside down and she is ripped away from her soul mate, she is forced to live a life with evil.
When Isla and her soul mate cross paths will they find a happy ever after or will evil intervene?
