The Scars Of Us is about Ryker and Kaiya. Kaiya's story is deeply upsetting as from an early age, she was abused by her twin brother Kaleb. For years she suffered in silence until Kaiya tried to fight back and Kamden, her other brother walked in and saved her. Since then, Kaleb has been in a metal insituate and Kaiya has tried to move on with her life. She has nightmares and her sexual experiences have been tainted where now she has a "friend with benefits" situation with her friend Bryce and she only feel comfortable because she has rules for sex. She is really messed up but i could most definitely feel her pain and grief over what happened. She starts going to the gym with Kamden and this is where she meets Ryker. The ladies man! He is super hot and works at the gym as a personal trainer. He has only had one seriously relationship that ending pretty badly so now he doesn't want a relationship. He a love them, leave them guy and when he first meets Kaiya, he wants her and will do anything to make that happen. There relationship at times was quite funny to read and there was a lot of will they, won't they as Kaiya is very cold at times but that's understandable. I really enjoyed this book and read it quite quickly. It had me coming back for more. It's a very hard subject to read about but it was carried off very nicely. Great Read!
Kaiya Marlow has always been cautious, precise in every decision she makes. When her dark past threatens to resurface, she decides to take precautions to protect herself by enrolling in self-defense classes at her gym.
Her instructor, Ryker Campbell, is the tattooed womanizer everyone warns about. Kaiya attempts to resist Ryker's advances, but the more time they spend training together, the harder it is for Kaiya to resist him.
Ryker's view on relationships is simple: strictly sex, nothing more. Haunted by demons from his past, he never allows himself to become attached to any woman. No attachment means no weakness, no vulnerability, no pain. He doesn't realize that his whole world is about to be turned upside down when Kaiya enters his self-defense class. Determined to have her, at least for one night, Ryker sets a plan into motion that will change both of their lives forever.
Will love be able to heal their scars, or are they too deep to overcome?
