Okay, so I thought This Man was great, as a matter
of fact,
one of my favorites, but...
After the This Man series I thought Jodi Ellen Malpas may
struggle to bring us another series that is equal to or better, I couldn't be
more wrong. Initially, I was comparing
the two stories, which of course you cannot because they are nothing
alike. This story captivated me from the
start, although there were some parts that were slow, but they were needed to
tell this great story.
The story starts out with Olivia or Livy, a broken but sweet
girl who seems to be closed off towards men and is living a life that can only
be described as bland. One day a very secretive
man walks into the coffee shop where she works and is captivated by her,
although he despises her coffee. He
leaves her a note telling her so and signs it mysteriously with the letter “M”. It doesn't take that long before you are told
what the letter M stands for, Miller, a what seems like, highly successful
businessman, but all is not what it seems and I wouldn't expect anything less.
Livy certainly has a backbone which is great, as I love a heroine with some spirit. Livy, although she has a very sweet and
loving facade, after all she lives with her grandmother, has a background which
is fairly unsavoury. I don't want to say
too much about the storyline because it only gives away what happens, but
needless to say, it is a page turner.
So, what did I think of this book. Without a shadow of a doubt, this is not
another “This Man” and for this I applaud Jodi Ellen Malpass, she could have
easily have ridden the success of that series.
Instead she gave us the start of something that I think will be as good
or better than the “This Man” series of books.
There is a cliffhanger ending, so I have already pre-purchased the next book
and honestly cannot wait to devour it.
I can promise you that the beginning of this story is awesome and the
way it is heading it should be another fantastic series of books from one of my
favourite authors.
Another five star read
for me.
Livy notices him the moment he walks into the coffee shop.
He's heart-stoppingly stunning, with a blue-eyed gaze so piercing she's almost
too distracted to take his order. When he walks out the door, she thinks she'll
never see him again. Then she finds the note he left on his napkin . . . signed
M.
All he wants is one night to worship her. No feelings, no commitment, nothing
but pleasure. Every defense mechanism Livy has adopted during her solitary life
is at risk of being obliterated by this confounding man. He's obnoxious but
well-mannered. He's a gentleman but aloof. He's passionate but emotionless. Yet
the fascination is so powerful, Livy can't deny him... or herself.
M awakens something in Livy, something deep and addictive that she never knew
existed -- and that she fears only he can satisfy. But she senses that behind
the fast cars, fancy suits, and posh apartment, he's aching inside. To have
him, body and soul, she'll have to brave his dark secrets. Delving into his
world and breaking down his defenses become her obsession - an obsession that
could shatter her heart beyond repair..
