**REVIEW** Sustained (The Legal Briefs Series, #2) by Emma Chase

Rating: 4 Stars

A knight in tarnished armor is still a knight.

When you’re a defense attorney in Washington, DC, you see firsthand how hard life can be, and that sometimes the only way to survive is to be harder. I, Jake Becker, have a reputation for being cold, callous, and intimidating—and that suits me just fine. In fact, it’s necessary when I’m breaking down a witness on the stand.

Complications don’t work for me—I’m a “need-to-know” type of man. If you’re my client, tell me the basic facts. If you’re my date, stick to what will turn you on. I’m not a therapist or Prince Charming—and I don’t pretend to be.

Then Chelsea McQuaid and her six orphaned nieces and nephews came along and complicated the ever-loving hell out of my life. Now I'm going to Mommy & Me classes, One Direction concerts, the emergency room, and arguing cases in the principal's office.

Chelsea’s too sweet, too innocent, and too gorgeous for her own good. She tries to be tough, but she’s not. She needs someone to help her, defend her…and the kids.

And that — that, I know how to do.

Review

Six nieces and nephews. This is how many children the lead female is the legal guardian to. Holy cow. Good on you woman. Then there is Jake, a defensive attorney. Two complete opposites. Yet they say opposites attract. Even if its hard to see someone like Jake wanting to help with someone with SIX kids. My laugh out loud moments in this book. Jake and his conversations with his penis, yes you are reading that right. His penis. Seriously weird, yet funny. I would recommend this book, it was full of emotions, sweet, funny as well as sexy.

Roxie Callahan is a private chef to some of Hollywood’s wealthiest, and nastiest, calorie-counting wives. After a dairy disaster implodes her carefully crafted career in one fell ploop, she finds herself back home in upstate New York, bailing out her hippie mother and running the family diner.

When gorgeous local farmer Leo Maxwell delivers her a lovely bunch of organic walnuts, Roxie wonders if a summer back home isn’t such a bad idea after all. Leo is heavily involved in the sustainable slow food movement, and he likes to take his time. In all things. Roxie is determined to head back to the west coast as soon as summer ends, but will the pull of lazy fireflies and her very own Almanzo Wilder be enough to keep her home for good?

Salty. Spicy. Sweet. Nuts. Go on, grab a handful.

Review

I enjoy this book, it was adorable. I can't say I loved it, but I did finish it. and it had quite a few laugh out loud moments. Roxie is a celebrity chef in hollywood. She ends up losing her job and having to return to her home town and help her mother run there small restaurant.
Its there she meets a farmer - Leo. They have chemistry, there is no denying that. I wont give to much away, but I'll leave you with a few snippets that I loved most from the book.

"I'll see you around here for sure. Maybe you'll show up at my backdoor with your nuts again"

"Are those nuts in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me"

One final note, be prepared to cook when  you read this. Ms Clayton does a fantastic job with her food.

“Life is not always as it seems, Abigail, it can be masked by many disguises.”
