* REVIEW * Resolution (Saviour #2) by Lesley Jones

Reviewer : Kaylene Osborn
Rating : 5 Stars

This series is a must read if you want a hot, romantic book boyfriend and a spicy read ...

Resolution starts off where Saviour ended and completes this series of books.  To say that you feel emotion and love for the characters is undeniable.  The author takes you on a roller coaster ride and has you falling in love with the strong, yet damaged Lauren and the hot, sex on legs Gabriel.  He really is her Saviour and he is hers.  This book is a great read in that you feel like you are right there and part of it, which is how a master story teller is able to grab you and drag you right into the pages of the book.  I laughed, cried and felt every emotion whilst reading this story.

I really fell more in love with Gabe during this book, he loves Lauren so much and with his damaged past its hard for him to accept that she loves him.  With Lauren’s damaged past she feels the same way, she finds it hard to believe that Gabe could possibly want to be with her due to her age etc.  They both have quite the temper and they both fire off often.  Lauren doesn’t always make the best decisions and you tend to want to smack her, but at the same time you understand why she makes these mistakes.

I loved the side characters in this book also, Ava, Gabriel’s daughter plays quite a roll in this book and I really loved that interaction between her and Lauren.   I also raised my eyebrows and laughed out loud at the toilet scenes, you have to read it to know what I am talking about.

Another thing I loved was that this was set in Australia and being from Australia I just loved the use of our expressions and language.  Well done Lesley Jones for sticking with the Australian way of life.

Right, so what did I think? Well once again 5 golden stars for this book.  The only criticism I could give would be that it ended and now I have a book hangover again .. thanks Lesley Jones, as if it wasn’t enough for me to have a giant hangover after Carnage, now I have two in the space of a weekend.  Carnage is due out on 14th February 2014 - do yourself a favour and grab it immediately along with this series of books.

Resolution picks up exactly where Saviour left us all hanging! Having left an abusive marriage at 45, Lauren can hardly believe that she has found Gabe, a 35 year old blonde buff sex god, their instant chemistry has convinced him that that he wants to change his serial shagging ways and to make what they have found permanent, he knows that he loves Lauren but relationships are a whole new concept to him and he doesn't always get it right.

Lauren, still reeling from the abuse she has suffered at the hands of her ex husband is not convinced that jumping straight into another marriage is the right thing for her, despite how much she loves Gabe, the sex is amazing, they have no problems there, with Gabe she is growing in confidence and trying things in the bedroom (and everywhere else) that she never even considered during her marriage but they have known each other for just 10 short weeks and already they have been through enough drama to last a lifetime. Lauren has once again been beaten and humiliated by her soon to be ex-Husband, Gabe has revealed he was sexually abused by his Step-Mother as a teenager, and Gabe’s ex is threatening to stop him seeing his daughter.

Will Lauren listen to taunts from jealous exes and her own self doubt; or will the love (and lust) Lauren has found in Gabe’s arms be enough for her to let go of her painful past to build a future with Gabe. Resolution is the conclusion of Gabe and Laurens story, it will take you on a roller coaster of emotions, with some steamy and erotic sex scenes, just to keep your pulse racing, like Saviour, some scenes are gut wrenching, it will have you laughing, crying and wanting to not only hug Gabe and Lauren but also wanting to shake some sense into them. Buckle up and enjoy the ride.

* REVIEW * - Saviour (Saviour #1) by Lesley Jones

Reviewer : Kaylene
Rating : 5 Stars

Holy hotcakes, this is one spicy book.  You can save me any time Gabriel,  any time ....

Well Lesley Jones you have delivered another wonderful book, Saviour is going to be one of my favourites along with Carnage and most probably Resolution when I finish reading it.

In Saviour we start out by meeting Lauren, a women in her 40’s who’s in an abusive relationship with her husband Jason.   It seems that it wasn't always physically abusive but has turned out that way and she is struggling with the fact that she loves him (perhaps not in love with him) and the fact that she has been married to him for over 26 years.  She has adult children who have left home and she’s faced day in and day out with this man who treats her with so much disrespect that she has no self confidence left.   One day she wakes up and decides it all over and she is going to leave him.   She goes out with her girlfriends and lets them know what’s been going on in her life.  They’re all shocked as they thought she had a wonderful relationship with Jason.  On her night out she meets Gabriel and that’s when things start to heat up.  Wow, Gabriel is hot, yes that’s right H.O.T.  Definitely my book boyfriend of the moment and any women’s fantasy, especially one who’s older because Gabe is much younger than Lauren and the attraction to each other is instant.   Love at first sight especially for Gabe who has never been in a relationship for more than two minutes, he’s a love em and leave em type.

I loved this book, I love the way it was written as it had me from the start and once again Lesley Jones I had my nose stuck in my Kindle until well after 2:30 am this morning to finish it.  I immediately started reading Resolution the second book in the series.   I am very fortunate to have meet Lesley Jones while reviewing her latest book Carnage and I hope to be reading her stories for as long as she is producing them.   Fantastic books and I can thoroughly recommend them.  Do yourself a favour and read this book.

Lauren has decided her marriage is over, but has yet to tell Jay, her abusive husband of the past twenty five years. On a night out with girlfriends, she has a few drinks and musters the courage to shamefully come clean over the abuse she has suffered over the years.

Gabriel joins his brothers for a Friday night drink at a local bar, thirty five, good looking and single after a very brief, failed marriage, all he is ever on the lookout for is a hook up....Even names aren't important to him...Straight sex, no complications.

Watch as their worlds collide, neither of them prepared for the effect each will have on the other. The chemistry is instant and overwhelming and has the possibility to destroy them but will the mind blowing sex be enough to keep them together and overcome each of their pasts?

Their story is sometimes harrowing and heartbreaking and touches on subjects all too often avoided. Don't expect a hearts and flowers romance read, although that is there too, along with some very funny moments.

“Really? What were you doing about twenty minutes ago? And don’t tell me you were thinking, I know what your ‘thinking’ face is. Besides, we’re leaving Saturday, and we are staying at the hotel until then so it’s not like I am going to get a chance at him anyway. I was just commenting on how cute he is.” Illana folded her arms over her chest and stuck her chin out at Sydney. “At least I’m honest about it, unlike some people.”
“What do you want me to say?” Sydney threw her arms up in frustration. “Yes, I think Zeke is hot, like burn-me-at-the-stake kind of hot. The man brought me a perfect cup of coffee while I was sleeping. Who does that? I almost spilled my coffee this afternoon when Betty told me he called her to find out how I like my coffee. So, yeah, I want him. How could I not? I mean, the only thing that would make him sexier is a gold-hoop earring! My heart does jumping jacks whenever he walks into the room,” At Illana’s wide-eyed look, Sydney said, “and he’s standing right behind me, isn’t he?”
“Yeah, but don’t stop now, especially if you’re going to do jumping jacks,” Zeke said, leaning against the door jam and wearing a very satisfied grin.

A Wedding in Ruby Lake #2

The attraction between Alex, Zeke’s brother, and Illana deepens and Illana finds it hard to keep her well-maintained defenses in place. Annie “Attila the bun” Greyson is also back, but with a few surprises of her own.
From the meddling ladies at the local coffee shop, the Stay a While, to the machinations of a psychopath, A Wedding in Ruby Lake is full of ups and downs, twists and turns, and a few new characters to get to know. Join the Ruby Lake gang as they find out, mostly the hard way, that sometimes walls need to be torn down in order for a better foundation to be built.

Illana walked quickly into her room and grabbed her black clutch purse, opening it to drop her cell phone in it. She checked her hair, red tipped today, and makeup one last time in the mirror above the dresser and then walked out the door, pulling it shut quietly so as not to wake the other houseguest. Turning around, she ran smack into his chest.
“Ow, hi, I didn’t hear you get up. Did we wake you?” she asked, her face turning pink as she looked at Tyler.
“No, I’ve been up for hours actually,” Tyler said, crossing his arms and leaning against the wall. “Just so you know, my heart has already been spoken for. But if it wasn’t, you’d be very fun to chase…and catch.”
Illana felt a pang of disappointment, and a wave of relief. “Ha, like you’d catch me to begin with. I never date men who are prettier than me.”

“Stop yelling, I’m awake, for goodness sake,” Diana said, pulling her fancy new earbuds out of her ears.
Illana sat down, one hand on her chest. “You usually hear the door open, your face was so peaceful, I thought…”
Diana put a hand on Illana’s knee. “I know what you thought, and it is coming. I hope you don’t do that when I do go. When I go home, there won’t be any more pain. You must be brave, my girl, you must. There are so many things I want to say, do, see with you. I want to dance, I want to sing more songs, but we are running out of time. I want to say I love you a thousand more times, so much so it will soak into your skin and stain it. So you will have it forever.”

I wasn't sure what to expect when I first started this book but I was pleasantly surprised!
I love the time period this book was set in, Petronela captured this era perfectly ! I enjoyed the mystery, I found myself guessing what might happen next.
This book although it may be short it kept me going my only problem was it was too short I wanted so much more. I enjoy historical romances as I'm a sucker for all things historical and ancient. It sucked me in right from the first page and I  could not put it down!
I highly recommend this book if you after a fresh quick and light historical romance! I know I will be reading more from this wonderful Author.

* REVIEW * - Emerge (Evolve #1) by S. E. Hall

Reviewer : Cheryl
Rating: 5 Stars

Emerge is a fun, loving, quirky, sweet romance about coming of age and simply emerging as an individual and the mould of familiarity.

Laney and Evan are the best of friends.  They have been inseparable since the age of 10 and have always had each other’s back.  Laney, finally at the age of 18, notices there are more to her feelings for Evan than just best friends. They enter in to a relationship and before they both know it graduation is upon them and they have to make tough decisions because real life has come knocking at their door.  They are going to separate colleges and temptation comes in many forms.

Laney and Evan get tested throughout their first year of college experience.  Laney's temptation comes in the form of Michael 'Dane' Kendrick.  Just a heads up the book is in three POV's: Laney, Evan, and Dane's.  The story flows between the three and each POV picks up where the other left off.  Laney finds new friends in what is called "The Crew" at her college while Evan discovers and figures out what college peer pressure really entails.
The supporting characters Bennett, Tate, Zach, and Sawyer are great!  They are a fun, loving bunch and such a pleasure to know.  Their chemistry as a group of friends is immediate and the best part of it is that they are loyal to each other.  Laney is confused about her feelings for Evan and even more so because she feels attracted to Dane.  Her rambunctious and crazy crew of friends help her in her indecision, but Zach more so than the others.  I could not put this book down because it is bittersweet and a great romance of self discovery, love, friendship, and fate.  I know it sounds corny, but the story is really good.  There are twists you never saw coming, but in a sense expect them.  Pick it up and you will not regret it.

Laney Walker is a quick witted, athletic, southern tomboy who lets few get too close, using her sarcastic zingers to deflect. She also has no idea how others view her, Evan having protected and coveted her since they were children. But college puts a gap between Laney and Evan that neither of them were prepared for- old relationships are tested, new ones are formed and nothing will ever be the same.

Especially when in walks one Dane Kendrick, not at all the familiar, southern charmer of home, but an animal all his own.

A story of growing up, friendship, loyalty, first love, primal love...and life.

* REVIEW * - Touch Me (Touch #1) by T. H. Snyder

Reviewer : Cheryl
Rating: 4 Stars

Touch Me by T H Snyder is a sweet romance story.  It is written in two POV's and is a good read. It is well written and T H Snyder puts a lot of effort in to this story.

Riley just moved to Boston and is looking to start over with his life and put his past behind him.  Char is an accountant who's lived in Boston all her life.  Char's best friend Derrick is Riley's new roommate.  They meet through a phone conversation and then later at a store without knowing who the other is.  They still are affected by each other even without being introduced.

When Char finally manages to meet Riley, sparks fly.  They are attracted to each other and they both did not expect their attraction to be powerful.  Char got out of a relationship where she was battered emotionally and was sceptical with moving on, while Riley knew what he wanted and he wanted Char.  Mixed signals cause a rift between them and instead of facing it Char leaves to find some answers in California with her sister, while Riley is ready to move on.  When Char comes back, she finally accepts that Riley is a keeper and starts a relationship with him.

Their relationship is fast paced because they feel the magnetism and attraction as if they were meant to be together.  Their emotions and feelings for each other are a sure thing.  They are confident in what they want and they want only each other. They fall in love and when they think they've got everything figured out Riley's past comes back to cause ripples in his life.

This story takes you on a ride with the dual POV's, but it is a good ride.  You are swept away with it and will love this story.  The one thing I wasn't so excited about is that with the dual POV's they both pick up from the beginning of how each other feels.  For example if they are going out on a date; both POV's will start from the point of them getting ready instead of just flowing and picking up from where one left off.  When Char gets to the restaurant the story goes back to Riley's POV from when he got ready.  It is good to understand what he's feeling, but I find it not necessary to start at the beginning.

Touch Me is well written and is a great romance story. The supporting characters are great. They are all different yet so good together.  They all have their own story that will hopefully unfold in the next books in the series.

Char is a focused and driven career woman who's had a relationship she would rather choose to forget, but can't. Riley is a pure gentleman who can easily leave the past where it belongs, behind him.

Some people believe in fate where others deem it a coincidence. Char and Riley are meant to be together, so life just happens to make sure they are in the right place at the right time.

But is that enough?

You’ll be falling in love with this dynamic duo as they find out who they are and why fate keeps making sure their lives are intertwined.

Their differences are what make them all too similar, and throughout the course of their journey there is one thing that always brings them back together...the need for each other's touch.

* REVIEW * - Torn (Torn Heart #1) by Annie Brewer

Reviewer : Liz
Rating: 4 stars

Torn is about best friends Skylar and Jackson who grew apart and slowly grow back together to form an amazing relationship. Skylar, who is strong, beautiful and a fantastic painter then there is Jackson, football star, who has a bitch of a girlfriend Amber, who loves to make Skylar's life hell because she is jealous of the friendship Sky and Jackson shared in the past. There are a few different things going on in this story, but it keeps you pulled in and makes it hard to put down wondering what will happen next.

This is a perfect story of young teenage school crush love, it's so cute I really enjoyed this book, and the characters were fantastically built. There was a few little grammatical errors but I'm not one to judge, like I said this book pulled me right in and I enjoyed every page of it. The way Annie ended this has left me wanting more.

I cannot wait for the next book! You have left me seriously hanging and guessing what's going to happen.

Skylar McKenzie is a serious artist with a plan. She'll graduate high school, travel around Europe, then leave her life in Texas and move to New York. She'll also leave her feelings for the boy she's known her whole life, behind and move on. Or so she hopes.

Jackson Cruz is ready for a future as a star quarterback once he graduates high school. It's the path he's been leading for years now. But when his cheerleader girlfriend cheats on him, and a team mate causes a lot of drama, he wonders if this is really the life he's wanted, or if there's something more.

They thought they had it all figured out-their futures. But life doesn't always go as planned. With feelings revealed, their dreams on the line, this is a year for changes, choices, and a love that might or might not overcome all obstacles.

Told in Jackson and Skylar’s POV, this is a story about acceptance, first love, embracing your passions and finding your way, even if it’s not the way you had planned.

A new Young Adult novel, with adult content coming late November 2013.

* REVIEW * - Meant for Me (Second Chances #3) by L.P. Dover

Reviewer : Kaylene
Rating : 5 Stars

Note :  this book is a stand alone novel but can be read as the third in the Second Chances series of books by L.P. Dover

Meant for Me is for those who love a good MMA fighter romance.  This was something new for me and it certainly changed my mind about fight books which I have always steered clear of.  This book has it all, hot sexy man, strong lead woman, and a seriously good storyline.  There are two books before this one and, as this was a review read for me I did not read the other two, however I would recommend you read the first two as well as there were some parts of the story where the background would have been good on some of the characters.

The book starts out and I was hooked straight away.  We meet Mason a cop who was a MMA fighter and gave it all up.  We also meet Claire who has a boyfriend and seems quite happy.   In walks Mason and he turns her world upside down all over again.   They previously hooked up for a one night stand and then he leaves and it crushes Claire.   The story progresses and you are left asking if Claire will actually take Mason back and if she will let him back into her heart.

What I liked - a HEA, a fantastic storyline, a strong female lead, a sexy hot male lead, some great support characters, and a standalone book.  This book is definitely worth 5 stars and it was a page turner for me, so I thoroughly recommend it to those who like a good fight book with an awesome storyline.

After a night of raw passion with the man Claire O’Briene had been secretly admiring for years, she thought their time together had come once and for all. Fate had finally brought them back to each other, but unfortunately nothing had changed. He was still the same man who ran away from relationships. Against his better judgment, Mason Bradley gave in to the temptation and allowed himself one night with the one woman he’d been too afraid to want … too afraid to need.

Six months after leaving Claire and regretting every minute of it, Mason gets called in for an undercover mission that’s not only dangerous, but brings back a past he spent years trying to forget. A past of fighting … of getting in the ring and using his fists to get what he wanted: money, women, and drugs. Now there are fighters turning up dead, and it’s Mason’s job to find out the truth.

Knowing he might not come out of the mission alive, Mason seeks out Claire to tell her how he truly feels, only to find another man competing for her love as well. Fighting is what he’s good at, and for once he will be fighting not only for justice … but for love.
