~Synopsis~

Life for Charlotte (Charlie) Harris couldn’t be any better at this moment in time. She has her dream job, she has the extremely wealthy knight in shining armour and she has the best friends a girl could ever ask for. On paper, the beautiful world unfolding at her feet almost appears too good to be true for a working class girl from Manchester right?

But what happens when you gloss over the statistics and realise that the happy bubble you have been living in for the past fifteen months has all been a twisted, torturous path of lies? What if you realised that the person you loved wasn’t who they claimed to be any longer?

With the once sacred and happy memories now turned into hatred and despair, Charlie must now follow her instincts to either forget her past and move on or force the hand that holds the cards to her life to reshuffle the deck before it leads onto the twisted future that lies in store.

What will she choose?

Can she forgive and forget for the only man her heart has ever loved?

(Please note that this book contains strong language and graphic scenes of a sexual nature which are intended for a more mature audience.)

~Excerpt One~

“I know you’re watching me, Baby.” The groggy sound of his voice startled her somewhat.
Composing herself, Charlie smiled. “No, I’m not.”

He grinned sleepily before brilliant blue eyes opened and met her stare. “I think you are,” he murmured.
Her heart began to flutter repeatedly as their eyes continued to stare at one another. It was always like this between them, this playful yet sizzling chemistry that Charlie hoped they would never lose.  “So what are you going to do about it then?” she challenged with a smirk.

Raising his eyebrows slightly, he gave her a look that practically melted her insides to a puddle of goo. Licking her lips seductively, Charlie continued tracing her fingers across his stomach, enjoying the feel of his skin blazing beneath her touch.
“Are you teasing me, Baby?” he asked with a hint of amusement. Lifting both of his arms to rest behind his head, Charlie watched as he tensed the muscles in his abdomen, defining the already ridged muscles further.

She knew he was playing dirty, but she also knew that she could play dirtier. It was definitely time for her to up her game she decided as she removed her hand from his body and placed it on her left thigh. Very gently, she ran her fingertips from the top of her leg to the bottom. His eyes widened as he watched her fingers pursue an unrelenting path over her soft skin until she stopped at the juncture of her thighs.

~Excerpt Two~

“Careful,” Callum said as he closed the space between them and placed his hands on her shoulders to steady her balance. He flicked his eyes up and down the length of her naked body, lingering unashamedly at the soft swells of her breasts. “I missed you,” he murmured huskily.
Even standing underneath the hot water of the shower, Charlie couldn’t help the way her nipples began to harden. She was unable to control the reactions of her body around Callum, so she had just learnt to embrace it.

“Your fucking tits are amazing,” Callum groaned as he stroked his hands down from her shoulders to cup her breasts. He squeezed them firmly in his hands before brushing the tips of his thumbs over her rosy, hardened peaks. Closing her eyes, Charlie bit down on her lower lip. “You like that?” he breathed as he continued to tease and knead her breasts.
Removing one hand from her chest, Callum firmly gripped the nape of Charlie’s neck and lowered his lips down to hers in one smooth movement. She closed her eyes and moaned softly as he sucked and nipped at her bottom lip.

The hot spray from the shower continuously pounded onto her skin, leaving her body feeling extremely sensitive. She gasped as a slight tremor ran the length of her body, which Callum used to slip his tongue inside of her mouth.
Meeting his tongue stroke for stroke, Charlie found her hands tracing across the well defined muscles of Callum’s stomach. Her fingertips dipped into each ridged groove before her hand found the small trail of hair that headed south. Brushing her fingers gently over the line of light and fluffy hair from his navel, she slowly crept further down until she reached his warm and pulsing shaft.

~About Beth Ashworth~

Beth Ashworth was born in Manchester in 1990, but shortly moved to the modest city of Coventry where she was raised and still resides now.

As a vivid reader from a very early age, Beth has always been keen to put her words onto paper. As a child she was always found with either a book in her hand, a pen and notepad or a computer games controller.

Starting off by initially writing alternate endings to her favourite Jacqueline Wilson books from around the age of ten, Beth has continued to grow and love her passion for books.

Eventually, after many unfinished books and short stories, she finally decided to follow her passion and write books that she hopes people will love.

When she isn't reading or writing, Beth loves to spend time with her husband and friends.

~Author Interview~

I have noticed that many readers are aspiring authors. Do you have any tips or advice for them?

I would tell people to just go for it. Follow your dream if it is something you want to do. Many of us will end up just sitting on the fence and not pursuing something that deep down we are all passionate about.

When did you start writing?

It must have been around the age of ten. I picked up an obsession with Jacqueline Wilson books after being introduced to them at school. After the first couple, I found myself addicted to rewriting the endings to her books. I can’t even tell you how many different ways I ended the book ‘Love Lessons.’ What motivates you to write?

A stressful day at work will usually kick start the writing brain. I like to go into a bubble and just bash away at my laptop for hours.Do you ever feel frustrated with your work?

All of the time. It can be one of the most enjoyable yet frustrating parts of my day. There will always be one section of a chapter that you are struggling to get your head around.

What makes you keep writing when you get frustrated?

Usually a can of Mountain Dew or some other sugar coated snack. That usually snaps me out of my frustration and provides me with the little burst I need.

How do you get over writer's block?

Usually a phone call to my mum or a Skype session with my American BFFs. Most of the time it helps me out of my writing funk.

How do you handle negative reviews of your books?

With this being my debut novel, to say that I wasn’t nervous about receiving negative reviews would be an understatement. To be honest, the thought of getting a negative review absolutely terrified me in the first week of release. However, after receiving my first one, I sort of just looked at it and realised that I am not going to be able to please everyone.

I now look at the reviews as a way to improve with my next book. Secretly, they are providing me with beta feedback to make the next one bigger and better than the last.

I will never give up on my dream regardless of what the ratings and reviews may portray. I enjoy writing too much to stop now.

There's a lot of distractions around, especially with social media, how do you block it all out and write?

With great difficulty!! Haha! Unfortunately, my weakness is my use of social media. I am literally glued to my iPhone at all times checking in with my friends on Facebook, Twitter and Goodreads. Thankfully, some of my friends are also writers, so we do make sure to crack the whip at each other if we think we are distracting away from writing. What do you enjoy, outside of writing?

Of course I am a complete book nerd, so when I’m not writing I love to be catching up with some of my favourite authors. I am also a complete computer game addict. My Playstation is like my lifeline... you will find me a lot of the time running around on Call of Duty with a machine gun in my hand whipping a lot of sore male egos.

What's something about you that most people don't know?

I have a secret obsession with K-Pop music... Along with my Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga albums, you will find many Korean artists filling my iPhone. It isn’t something I usually tell people because they don’t understand why I listen to music that I can’t understand. It’s infectious...

Have you ever had to rewrite portions of a book because the characters decided to be someone else than you intended?

That’s a good question because I can tell you that Broken Truth would have been very different had it not have been for my friends who were beta reading for me. The scene at Vision did not exist in the first draft and neither did the twist with the appointment of the new director. We felt that Callum was becoming too much of a‘baddie’ when we wanted him to try and be redeeming in the long run. It ended up in a big overhaul from chapters twenty onwards. (I had a very longggg weekend two weeks before release!)

Where do you come up with the names for your stories?

I was actually flicking through a list of British baby names for Charlie and Callum. I wanted to pick some different and unique names that I hadn’t heard used in too many books. I think Charlie has been used a few times, but I don’t recall that many Callum’s on my book boyfriend list!

What are you working on currently?

I was toying whether to go back to a book I had started writing before the idea for Broken Truth appeared. It is a story that I’m quite attached to now, but I’m not sure if I am completely committed to finishing that one yet.

I would however, like to make Broken Truth into a series of standalone books. The idea of my Italian Marco having his own separate story is quite appealing at the moment and could possibly be the second book in a future broken series. Of course, I am still brainstorming ideas at the moment because I don’t want it to be a spin-off without any purpose. I want him to have a hard-hitting and very relatable story. Watch this space I guess!

Do you ever write characters you hate?

It has to be done. I really didn’t like writing about Callum at first. I was starting to dislike him more and more the way he was treating Charlie and his lack of concern for her. But because I knew how it was going to end, it helped me to continue on.

Who is your favourite character in Broken Truth?

By far it was Xavier. I loved writing the scenes with him in them. They allowed me to get bitchy and funny at the same time.

Where did you get the idea for Broken Truth?

I literally woke up on a Sunday morning at about seven and started typing ideas on my phone. I have no idea where it came from. I just had this weird early morning brain wave.

Do you prefer your books in print or e-book format?

If my book ever becomes popular enough for a printed book, I would probably freak the hell out.

What are you currently reading?

Simple Perfection by Abbi Glines.

What is your favourite book?

Oh my God! I cannot chooooose!! Can I have like three or four? Please? J

The Opportunist – Tarryn Fisher

Consequences– Aleatha Romig

The Siren –Tiffany Reisz

Thoughtless –S.C Stephens

Ok... One more... I love my Fifty...

Who is your favourite author?

Although her books are not mentioned in my list above (this is purely because there are too many!) I seriously love Abbi Glines and her books. I think they are just amazing... Especially all of the stories coming from the Rosemary Beach series. Brilliant!

Do you have any excerpts from any of your books (published and WIPs) that you'd like to share with us?

Not at the moment L But I will let you know when I have some!
